Abbie Fish

Founder/Technique Coach

Abbie founded Swim Like A. Fish in 2019 after 25+ years of success in competitive swimming. From qualifying for the Olympic Trials to working at USA Swimming’s headquarters, and coaching at The Race Club, Abbie has been on all sides of the sport. She is a University of Georgia “Double Dawg” – where she swam and graduated with her M.S. and B.S. degrees. Abbie continues to further her knowledge on stroke mechanics by studying, researching, and staying on top of the newest trends on technique. Abbie has worked with clients as young as young as 5 and up to 90 years old. She believes that anyone with the heart to train CAN and WILL benefit from technical advice!

Mitchell Prather

Strength & Conditioning Consultant

As a current Masters student at the University of Louisville studying Exercise Physiology, Mitch joined Swim Like A. Fish in early 2020. Mitch ran into Abbie at their local crossfit gym, where they both bonded over their Division I college swimming experiences.

Mitch, a graduate from Ball State University, started competitively swimming at age 11. He swam all 4 years at Ball State, and competed in the Mid-American Conference Championships 2x. He’s also worked at the SPIRE Olympic and Paralympic Training Center, as an assistant swim coach.

Mitch’s goals are to continue to build out his coaching skillsets, while helping as many athlete achieve goals they didn’t believe were possible. We are very happy to announce Mitch to the team!

Laurel Weiss

Mental Health & Mobility Consultant

Laurel joined Swim Like A. Fish in early 2019. Laurel specializes in holistic medicine, as she’s a certified massage therapist, Registered Yoga Teacher (200 hours), and holds a Bachelors in Psychology. As a native from Ithaca, NY–Laurel loves the water and believes it is one of Mother Natures’ natural healers. Laurel lives by the Manta: Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu, or in other words: “May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.”

Nathan Knopf

Director of Operations

Nate joined Swim Like A. Fish in March 2020 after an extensive background of competitive swimming and coaching. Nate swam at Auburn from 2001-2005, where he was an All-American in the 1500 and Olympic Trials qualifer.

As a member of Lakeside Swim Team growing up, Abbie and Nate’s lives crossed paths when Nate first started coaching. Abbie credits Nate for being the reason she knew what a ‘hang clean’, ‘deadlift’, and ‘squat’ was when she went off to college.

Now retired from coaching, Nate works as a energy analyst. As most swimmers know, once you’re a swimmer — you’re always a swimmer. So even with Nate being removed from the sport on a day-to-day basis, he’s still a HUGE swimming nerd. He even competed in Ironman Louisville in 2018!

Nate currently lives in Louisville, KY and is married to Dr. Susan Buchino with one son: Wyatt Knopf, and one big dog: Bartlet.

Kylyn Schnelle

Project Manager

Kylyn joined Swim Like A. Fish in July 2019 after completing a dual-masters in Marketing & Business Administration from the University of Louisville.

As a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kylyn grew up playing soccer and going snowboarding. Kylyn is an avid health and fitness enthusiast. She enjoys going to her local crossfit gym and hiking on the weekends.

Her background includes managing University of Louisville’s Softball and Women’s Tennis Social Media accounts. Kylyn is excited to work at Swim Like A. Fish as it involves collaborating within a small, start-up team about a sport that’s becoming more main stream.
